Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15
The word answer is the Greek word, apologia (ap-ol-og-ee'-ah). It means a plea, an answer (for self), clearing of self, defense.
The word hope is the Greek elpis (el-pece') and it means expectation, confidence, faith, hope.
We are called to give an answer to those who ask why we have expectation, confidence, faith and hope in our Lord, Jesus Christ. And we are called to do it with gentleness and respect.
