The word "thanks" in the Hebrew is the word yadah (yaw-daw') which the Strong's Concordence states means "literally, to use (i.e. hold out) the hand; (...) especially to revere or worship (with extended hands); intensively, (...) praise, shoot, (give) thank(-ful, -s, -sgiving).
